The Society is Associate member of the Sussex Wildlife Trust and Member of the Sussex Federation of Amenity Societies and affiliated to Campaign for the Protection of Rural England and aims to:
- preserve the amenities of the village;
- preserve historic buildings by monitoring planning applications;
- ensure natural wildlife habitats are not lost;
- maintain the footpaths by regular walks;

If you have an interest in any or all of the following
- local history, natural history
- the environment, wildlife, farming
then we invite you to join the East Hoathly & District Preservation Society.
Your subscription will entitle you to
- attend 4/5 meetings a year to which we invite guest speakers (many of them acknowledged experts) to educate and entertain us
- receive 3 newsletters a year to include items of local and national interest
- take part in an annual field walk
- an annual outing (extra charge) which in 2007 was a guided tour of Winchelsea
- an AGM and dinner (extra charge)

Recent Work
In the last few years we have:
1. refurbished a local roadside pond and hedgerows (a prize-winning effort)
2. undertaken a major project to map the Parish under a habitat classification survey
3. listed bird species sighted in the Parish
In 2006 we were awarded a grant from The Lottery Heritage Initiative for a project entitled: The History of East Hoathly and Surrounding Villages in the Sussex Low Weald.

Please contact June or Vic Tidswell on 01825 872240 if you would like to join the Society. Annual membership is £7 per person (£12.50 family) and the programme for the year will be sent to you as a receipt of your subscription.
